Review for Starlight Double Oaked
Complicated relationship between a bracingly aggressive nose and a very nice palate with a good finish. Overall enjoyable, but you have to get over the nose, which makes it hard to crave this Bourbon

Nose Rating Explanation
Buttery sweetness initially. The sweetness is slightly caramel-like, but not quite classic caramel notes one expects from Bourbon–perhaps slightly more astringent. A vanilla cream note later in the nose, as well as a very late arrival of baking spices. Very potent, almost too sweet, bordering on astringent/tannic. If double cask sweetness is your thing, you’ll like the nose. If not, this isn’t going to be your favorite nose.

Palate Rating Explanation
Much more pleasant than the nose lets on. The tannic astringency fades to more classic oak, while the buttery sweetness is more a charred and toasted barrel profile, with caramelized sugars, some buttery notes, and a faint herbal background. The herbal notes add a nice complexity, avoiding the single note profile of the nose. Actually quite enjoyable.

Baking spices, warmth, and more barrel spices form a long hug.

Review for Old 55 Bourbon
Well, I have neglected the website duties for a while. So while dusting it off, I noticed we don't have Old 55 review option. So here it is. While testing the feature, I figured a drink is on order and real review will have to follow. So here it is Nose: Pleasant, couldn't really pick up any distinct notes. Old sniffer is not what it used to be. Palate: A touch of sharpness at first, but not too bad. Finish: Some hotness on the finish. Pleasant. Overall: It's nice and pleasant. I couldn't pick up any distinct notes, or tastes, but definitely a smooth sipper.

Review for Knob Creek Barrel Pick #2
Nose: Beam peanut funk wrapped in oak, corn grain but not sweet. Rye spice, and a hint of ethanol later in the palate. Average. Palate: Sweet and spicy rye and corn grains on the front of the palate. Transition to mild peanut punk, though less pronounced than many Beam products. Late herbal notes, not too intense. Slightly above average. Mouthfeel: Full, slightly above average. Finish: Long warm hug, with a hint of the rye spice coming and going. Overall: Slightly Above Average (I give it a 6.5/10 with a 5/10 being an actual average Bourbon). Proof might actually get in the way of some of the nicer notes on both the nose and palate (which is not usually an issue for me)
