Crane Whiskey Society

Crane Whisk(e)y Society

For those of who you who signed up for bottles of our most recent pick, here is the info you have been waiting for.  For those of you who either missed it or didn’t want bottles of the Krogman’s rye, there is information included about a few remaining bottles of Krogman’s and future barrels and ways to communicate with the CWS group while we cannot meet in person.  I hope everyone is doing well and cannot wait to get back into Andrew’s garage for some whiskey, second hand cigar smoke, and in person dialog.  Cheers to all.

Krogman's is here

Allocation Status:
We received 184 bottles from the Krogman’s Rye we recently selected.  Please thank Steve Llewellyn for coordinating the barrel selection and doing most of the leg work.  He currently has a beer in the barrel and will be selling it at Function Brewery when it is ready.  I picked up the bottles last week and waited a week for bottle requests to come in.  It looks like we are able to give everyone their maximum desired number capped at 5.  There are 5 bottles left for late comers.  If this is you, send me an email with your request and I will try to accommodate - no promises.  If we don’t get additional responses, the remaining bottles will be allocated to those who asked for more during our next CWS meet up (who knows when that will be) - after I get my extra bottle of course.  The allocations are below in case you forgot how many you asked for.  If for some reason, you need to reduce your quantity, let me know and I can redistribute.

Stickers
There was a lot of debate about the label for the bottle and I think that you will like what we settled on.  We ultimately decided to go with a ship in lieu of Ed Bareng’s face.  But fear not, Chris Parker had stickers made so that you can have Ed’s face on your bottle.  Please thank Chris for the Stickers.  These will be distributed with the bottles.

Feedback from those who have tasted it so far:
Chris P: “ I will say this is probably my favorite rye I’ve ever tasted (limited experience).”
Bryan S: “She’s good!”
Shawn D: “ Did the Whistle Pig (15 year) and Krogmans blind taste.  Preferred the Krogmans.  I got Vanilla and caramel corn from it."
Matt J: “I just cracked my first and this stuff is worth more than $40."

You can pay me back for your bottles using one of the following methods.
Paypal: Nathan.L.Thomas@gmail.com (please send money to friend or family so that I don’t have to pay fees).
Zelle: 812-320-0532
Venmo: @btown_n8dagr8

Each bottle is $42.79 - If you decide to be kind (or lazy) by rounding, I will give that balance to Chris to offset his cost for the stickers.  I am not out to make a profit.

Pickup
I will bring several cases of whiskey on base with me continually (until it gets too hot to leave them in my truck).  I am normally on base Monday’s and Wednesdays.  Bottles can be picked up during my lunch break - generally Monday’s 1100-1130 and Wednesday’s from 1030-1100.  Please send me a text to let me know you want to grab your bottles.  If lunch time doesn’t work for you, then send me a text and I can coordinate before/after work or you can do a porch pick up from my house in Bloomington.

Lastly, we have a pretty active CWS WhatsApp Group Chat.  If anyone wants to participate, you can click on the invite link here.  Fore warning - the group is active and while most of the conversations are about whisk(e)y, they often go on tangents.  Give it a try - if you like it use it.  If it becomes too much ignore it.
